Chapter 5: Chasing Fast Money: My Hard Lesson with Affiliate Marketing

In the early days of my blogging journey, I was constantly thinking about making quick money.  I was fascinated by the concept of affiliate marketing and genuinely enjoyed the process of joining new programs. There was something exciting about signing up for new programs and imagining the passive income that would follow. Convinced that more banners meant more clicks (and money), I flooded my blog posts with affiliate links, hoping for an overnight breakthrough. Whenever I added a banner to my blog, I’d check my account the following day with anticipation… only to find nothing. No clicks, no earnings, just silence. Not being one to give up easily, I also enrolled in Google AdSense. Unlike affiliate programs, it gave me a sliver of hope—I was earning a few cents here and there. After a couple of years, I was finally getting there. I was only 50 cents away from reaching the $100 withdrawal threshold. But then, out of nowhere, everything came crashing down. Google disabled my AdSense ...

Chapter 4: Building Several Blogs

"The Person Who Chases Two Rabbits Catches Neither" My mother always advised me not to " run after one rabbit at a time" because " you catch neither." I  was too young to take her words thoughtfully and did things my way, always rushing while trying to multitask. With the idea of making money fast running through my head, I wanted to create several blogs simultaneously to maximise my chances. I would build one blog enthusiastically at first, but after writing one or two blog posts, I would give up, fed up, and move to a fresh new one with the same zeal I had for the previous ones. Again, after writing a few blog posts, the enthusiasm disappeared, and soon, I was back to square one, starting another blog on a different topic.  This has been ongoing for many years, and although I knew it was wrong, I kept doing it with the hope that it would eventually work. Unfortunately, it never worked, and it never amounted to anything excellent.  What happens when you...

Chapter 3: Impatience

"Patience is A Bitter Plant, But it Bears Sweet Fruit." "The Plans of the Diligent Lead to Profit as Surely as Haste Leads to Poverty"  Proverbs 21:5 We live in a world where virtue is gone. We want instant results for everything, such as instant coffee, instant messages, instant this, and instant that. Technological advancements have given us the luxury of expecting immediate results. We no longer dedicate time to working hard. We have become a society that values convenience over quality. The quotes above slipped my memory for a long time until I became frustrated because I was not obtaining the desired results with my blogging, meaning the amount of money I expected to get fast.  I wanted to avoid the bitter taste of patience through hard work and hastily make money fast. I paid the dear price of harvesting nothing except for a few quid here and there.  If Jesus Christ had to pay dearly with His blood to purchase us back for the Kingdom, who are we to look for s...

Chapter 1: What is blogging, and how does one make money with it?

Image
To give you a simple definition, blogging refers to creating and publishing content on a website or blog. An individual usually runs a blog, and the writing style is informal and conversational.  Blogs cover many topics, from personal stories drawn from experiences to hobbies to industrial news.   The topics can be written articles with added pictures (like the one you are reading), videos, or slide presentations.  How Does Blogging Work?  There are different types of blogs: personal, niche, and business. A personal blog lets you express your views on various subjects and share your experiences or hobbies .  Niche blogs provide informative knowledge on multiple subjects such as health, technology, politics, and/or sports. Business blogs are created by companies to promote their brands  and share news about their services and new product launches, for instance. The Purpose of Blogging Writing, expressing oneself, and sharing thoughts and opinions are ne...

Chapter 2. The Wrong Mindset

Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. Eat and drink, saith he to thee, but his heart is not with thee." In addition to all the other reasons I failed with blogging, the most significant was my mindset. A mindset is not something we are born with; instead, it is built through experiences, environments, beliefs, and repeated thoughts. Generally, the mindset begins in early childhood and is shaped by family beliefs and values, school and education, cultural or religious norms, and feedback from adults and peers.  For instance , if you are praised for effort, you might develop a  growth mindset .  O r, if you were repeatedly told and accepted that the world was square, you might create a square mindset  and argue with whoever told you it is round.  A message we repeatedly hear and believe to be true without proof of its validity affects our behaviour.  If I apply the above-mentioned Bible verses to my situation, I would say that the gurus ...
